Sikuma Rai
is a multimedia storyteller based in Lalitpur, Nepal and New York, USA.

She discovered her storytelling journey in 2017 through journalism while working at the weekly Nepali Times as a multimedia reporter and later as the online video reporter and team leader at the national daily The Kathmandu PostIn 2020, she solo-produced her short documentary "Come Over for a Drink, Kanchhi" which got nominated at the One World Media Awards 2021 and was discussed at the 50th Annual Conference on South Asia at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. In 2021, Sikuma changed gears to expand her creative endeavor and worked as a costume designer in a feature film "A Road to a Village".

For Sikuma, the process of storytelling is a way to enrich her life with varied human perspectives on relationships, and confrontation with the realities surrounding her. In that undertaking, she reshapes her identity. She aspires to see stories through a psycho-sociological lens and create an analytical understanding of our diverse communities.

As of April 2023, Sikuma is a Fulbright grantee and a student at Hunter College, CUNY, New York enrolled in the MFA Integrated Media Arts program. The plan is to graduate by 2025.
